USB
USB cables cover everything from charging and syncing devices to connecting peripherals like printers, scanners, and external storage. To choose the right cable, it helps to confirm:
- Connector types needed (USB-A, USB-B, Micro-USB, USB-C)
- Data speed requirements (basic peripheral vs high-speed transfer)
- Power needs (charging vs power delivery)
- Cable length and install environment (desk use vs routing through furniture/walls)
DisplayPort
DisplayPort cables are commonly used for monitors, docking stations, and workstations where high-resolution video and stable signal performance matter. When selecting a DisplayPort cable, it’s useful to confirm:
- Target resolution/refresh rate needs
- Cable length (longer runs can require higher-quality cabling)
- Any adapter needs (DP to HDMI, DP to DVI, etc., depending on equipment)
DVI
DVI is still common in legacy displays and certain commercial AV setups. The right DVI cable depends on:
- DVI type (DVI-D, DVI-I)
- Single-link vs dual-link needs (driven by resolution requirements)
- Any required adapters to integrate with newer equipment (like HDMI)
