Representative John Tanner met with Stewart County residents March 22nd. He spoke before a small audience in the Stewart County Library. Willie "Butch" Borchert, who is running for the office of State Representative, was at the March 18 Stewart County Democratic Party meeting at Cindy's. Pat Guthrie, Chairwoman of the Henry County Democratic Party, was also in attendance at that meeting. Larry Crawford, Mayor of Paris, Tennessee and candidate for state representative has announced plans to visit the Stewar County Democratic Party at the April 15th meeting. Even the former Vice President, Al Gore, plans to stop in Stewart County, although plans haven't been finalized.

Stewart County is being recognized by many politicians as a very winnable county. We voted overwhelmingly Democratic in the last election. This may be the best news for Stewart County in a while. The politicians have a chance to hear the voices of Stewart Countians and their opinions. This is your chance to leave an impression on our future policy makers, but only if you attend the meetings and participate in the events.

The next election is coming up in August. There are many high school seniors that haven't registered to vote yet. The Stewart County Democratic Party asks that if you know one that needs to register, help them do it. If they drive or are listed in the phone book, chances are that they are already signed up for the the jury pool. If they feel that their one vote doesn't count, remind them of the last election. Get them signed up to vote early and vote often.
