National: Our Administration at Work Bush Endorses Roe Foes. Bush Junior was acting like Uncle Reagan Jan. 22 as he sent messages of support to the anti-choice protesters. Junior, who used anti-abortion as a platform to help get nominated, isn't actively looking to abolish abortion but rather is trying to support those that do. He's trying to appeal to the anti-abortionists and still court the suburban, pro-choice vote in the next election. The article quotes Kate Michelman as he is "trying to have it both ways." I think he just doesn't want to make a stand on anything that he could be held accountable for. Speaking of being held accountable... I'm about tired of this crap. How often does someone in the Junior Administration say something just so completely wrong that you wonder what rock they found these numbskulls? This is yet another example of a Bush lackey that insults a group and fails to see anything wrong with it. Remember Ari Fleischer telling the press that someone should assasinate Osama Bin Ladin? That was hardly savory. Or remember all way back to when Bush told Cheney that a reporter was a "major league asshole" during the campaign. I consider his entire staff to be one major league of assholes. -Grayson Hansard I have been very busy with school and other activities and neglected
keeping this up to date since the election. I'll try to keep up with
changing events and interesting articles, but I'll probably have to
stop and go as the school year goes on. Since I'm just now returning
to this, I'm not prepared with much, but here are a few links of interest: -Grayson Hansard 2002 Election outcome In the gubernatorial race, Stewart County elected Bredesen over Hilleary, 2,709 to 1,260. We chose Clement (2,436) to Alexander (2,137). John Tanner got an impressive 2,823 to Mat McClain's 845. Willie "Butch" Borchert received 2,574 votes to Charles Cooper's 784. Finally, the citizens of Stewart County supported the lottery by over 1,000 votes (2,501 for yes to 1,478 for no) and opposed the Consitutional Amendment concerning fines by just over 500 (1,991 for no to 1,417 for yes). The internet has given citizens new ways to interact with each other and with government. One of the most popular ways is with online petitions that gather the names of concerned citizens and send them to politicians. I have two websites here that asks for your help to send a message to the Bush administration. The first is an effort to send the message that a war in Iraq is wrong. You can put in your two cents here. The second is to tell Bush what we as citizens think about his fire prevention idea of giving national forests to private industry. You can fight that by going here. Now for some interesting coincidences, go to Bush or Chimp. The similarities are amazing. I also want to thank Mrs. Martha Yanchysyn for telling me about the online effort against the war in Iraq. Most of these sites work by word of mouth, so please share them with your friends and send them to me so that I can put them up for others to see. -Grayson Hansard
