She was born poor. Her father was abusive to her whenever he saw her. Her mother was a whore. When she was two years old, she had fallen and scrapped her knee. She was crying loudly. When her father heard her, he got out his knife and cut out her tongue. He then looked over at her mother, and he killed her for having the child. He picked up the little girl and threw her out on the street with nothing on but what she was wearing, a torn shift. She tried to crawl back into the house, but she was not strong enough to open the door. A man passed by later and saw her. He was scruffy and hard looking. He turned her over, and the sight of her small face smeared with blood made even him ill. He picked her up and carried her as fast as I he could the nearest temple. He paid for what healing he could, but the healing could not restore her tongue. The man took her with him to his shack. Inside that shack would change Risa's short life.

She was raised by the local thieves. There weren't many of them, and she had to earn her own keep. Her training had started the day after she awoke in her new home. The leader told her she was safe and asked for her to show him who did this horrible thing to her. She cringed and tried to hide. He let the subject drop. He knew that all she could do at this age was beg. That did not bring in a lot of money, but she was slowly paying him back. During her time with the thieves, no one man or woman there ever raised a hand to her. She was considered a child of the leader. There were other children there, but she was the only one that had been so abused.

A raid of their little headquarters left her homeless again. She was too young to be arrested, and when the constables inquired as to who her parents were she just shrugged her shoulders. She was eight at this time. For the next two years, she would beg for money to buy a small scrap of food. Being undernourashed she looked younger than she really was. Then her luck changed.

An adventuring party came into her town, and one of the women was kind enough to give her gold. The girl with no name attatched herself to the woman. The group decided to take her with them. She proved her worth as a thief, and they gave her a name, Risa. Then her luck changed again.

The party was coming back from a successful adventure when they were ambushed. All of the party but Risa were killed. She was left behind, alone again. A group of soldiers rode by, saw the dead bodies, and assumed that she was at least partly responsible. They took her back to the town and threw her in jail. She heard through the window that she was to die the next day. A mysterious women arrived shortly after her arrest, and things got interesting.
