Nemidia was a curious child. She would wander around the woods for hours on end. One day she went in a new direction without telling her parents where she was going. It was getting late, and she had not returned. Her worried parents went out looking for her. She was tracked to the camp of a human. They were horrified. They did not know that any humans had gotten this close to their village and expected to have a fight on their hands until they heard Nemidia laughing. They cautiously entered the camp looking for their daughter. They found her playing with a bear cub. They stood still watching in wonder. They did not hear the footsteps behind them. A rough voice said "Do not be alarmed. She is safe." A man walked around them and went to the cub. He gently lifted it away from the giggling elven child. Nemidia was picked up off of the ground and gently placed in the arms of her anxious mother.

They took her back to the village with thanks to the man. He did not seem to be a threat so they left him alone. They kept a closer eye on Nemidia's wanderings. She never went so far away again. When she got older and heard the tale of what had happened, she went looking for the man who saved her from herself. She vaguely remembered the way, but what she found startled her. A small community had spruing up where once there was only a tiny hut. The community lived with the land and was neat and clean. A small boy noticed her standing there and very politely asked her what she wanted. She told the story and asked if the man was here. The boy sadly informed her that he had died twenty years earlier of old age. Nemidia was shocked. She was barely old enough to be out on her own, how could that man be dead.

The leader of the community remembered the story too. He told her that the man she was looking for was his father. He invited her to stay for as long as she wanted. She did after going home to tell her parents what she was doing. When she returned to the humans, she learned from them. They taught her forest lore, and she became a cleric of Mielikki as well. During her time with them, she watched them age right before her eyes. She learned that humans had very short lives. After living with them for two of their generations, she left. She could not bear the death of any more of her friends.

She found a new friend who had gotten lost in the woods. Her name is Handira Warnir. They traveled together for a year or so before meeting Myleara Disstar. Myleara took them with her while she was traveling with a band of gnomes who were a traveling side show. After a few disastrous thefts by the gnomes, Myleara left taking them with her. They joined up with her sister Oalirya Disstar. Handira got along with another member of their new group quite well. His name is Ducolin. Nemidia grew homesick and went home after another year.
