Balnari was a quiet child. She would sit and watch her parents lovingly before she could walk. As she got older she would sit and listen to them intently. Her parents never once had to take her to task for anything. They were very proud of her. Her mother taught her household chores, and then her mother gave her a small bow and taught her how to use it. Balnari was a quick study with the weapons she was taught. Her father taught her how to read and, later, how to cast spells. Balnari had fun with all tasks put to her. Other parents were slightly jealous of their luck on having such a biddable child.
Then she became an adolescent. Her attitude changed dramatically. She got into fights with others her age. She was rebellious to the point where the chief had to call her to task on many occasions. That embarrassed her parents the most. She was sent to the local temple of Azuth to calm down. She hated every minute of being cooped up with the stuffy priests. They worked to calm her down. After a few years she did, but never again would she be biddable. She apoligized to those that she hurt and annoyed, but only after having another talk with the high priest. The high priest recalled Bryzarlyn Qi'lanari and asked Bryzarlyn to take Balnari out and about with her. Bryzarlyn agreed while giving Balnari a scathing look. Balnari saw someone that she could not evade with petty excuses and a person that could put her on her bottom with a look.
They traveled together for a few months. Bryzarlyn would keep Balnari so busy that Balnari had no time to get impudent. They arrived at the new temple, and Balnari was put to work with building. Balnari showed she had an aptitude for metalworking, so she was assigned to help the blacksmith. He was a large man who took one look at this small elf and laughed. That angered Balnari, but instead of attacking or saying something smart, she set out to prove just how good she was. The blacksmith watched her work for a few days before leaving her to work alone. Balnari did not realize she was working on her own for a few weeks. It was not until she dropped a large candle holder that she realized that the blacksmith was too busy doing his work to notice her mistake. She picked it up and threw it back into the fire to heat it and fix the broken part.
After the temple was complete, Balnari asked Bryzarlyn if she could go out on her own for a while. Bryzarlyn smiled and approved. Balnari has gone on a few adventures, and is on her way home. She wants to show her parents she has changed yet again, but this time on this side of good.
